Acoustiblok Wins TV Challenge

Acoustiblok® Showdown of the Unbeatables Noise Reduction Project

Acoustiblok Wins TV Challenge – Acoustiblok was recently featured on the new National Geographic Channel series, Showdown of the Unbeatables. The episode turned up the volume when Acoustiblok, an award winning thin noise-reduction material that is as effective as 12 inches of solid concrete when added to a stud wall, took on the Nathan Air Chime, multiple screaming train horns that produces the same decibel levels as a jet airplane. Acoustiblok clearly won the challenge and proved that Acoustiblok material, a thin 1/8 inch membrane that increases the sound attenuation properties of conventional wall and floor/ceiling designs, when added to a stud wall does exactly what the  claims. Rather than attempting to block or absorb sound as other materials do, the Acoustiblok material transforms sound energy into inaudible internal friction energy as the soft heavy material flexes from sound waves (virtually the same as lead without the environmental problems or costs). A video recap of the episode is available on Acoustiblok’s website.

The episode was filmed in the fall of 2013. Before filming began Acoustiblok had to agree to the challenge ahead of time regardless of the outcome. Confident that Acoustiblok would win the challenge, Lahnie Johnson, President and Founder of Acoustiblok, accepted the conditions and the filming of the show was put into production. “We are very pleased with the outcome. The results of the challenge exceeded our expectations and the Acoustiblok materials did what they were created to do. Most of our testing is done in a laboratory setting. This was a real world test situation that we welcomed. It was a big success for us and clearly demonstrates the efficacy of our company’s products,” Johnson said.

Acoustiblok develops, manufactures, and markets acoustical and thermal products around the world, and has earned the industry’s highest ratings from architects, builders, and consumers, including the top award in the British House of Commons regarding sound abatement.

Now celebrating 15 years in business, Acoustiblok is also expanding its facility in Tampa, Florida, to keep up with the demand both domestically and internationally for its products.

The global demand for sound deadening products has been steadily rising as noise pollution has become so prevalent in our environment. This past April 30th was the 19th annual  Noise Awareness Day. This event was founded by the Center for Hearing and Communication to increase awareness internationally on the damaging affects of noise.

Experts agree that continued exposure to noise over 85 decibels (power mower) will cause hearing damage. Noise levels exceeding 140 decibels (jet engine/jack hammer) can cause damage after a single exposure. Researchers have found noise pollution not only leads to serious hearing damage, but it’s also been linked to lowered productivity, sleep disorders, stroke, heart failure and more. Staying indoors won’t keep noise out either. Unlike light waves, sound waves travel through walls of the places we live, work, and frequent.

As noise pollution has increased, the need for specialized sound proofing products has also grown. Over the years, Acoustiblok has created additional sound abatement products that utilize their award winning material. Primary products include Acoustiblok® viscoelastic polymer based soundproofing material, Acoustifence® outdoor noise barrier, All Weather Sound Panels®, QuietFiber® sound insulating material, Quiet-Cloud® industrial sound absorption panels, Acoustiblok WALLCOVER®, and Thermablok® aerogel (the highest type of insulation known) as a thin 1/4 inch flexible insulation strip for stopping thermal bridging in walls.

Concerns around the globe have also increased about environmental pollution. Acoustiblok’s products are considered green products. Acoustiblok is 100% recyclable and made from 90% recyclable materials with proven benefits in health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, energy and the environment, and industrial productivity. In addition, the company’s products are all made and sourced in the United States.

Acoustiblok Inc., ships products to more than 60 countries through a network of stocking distributors in the United States, on five continents across the globe and throughout the Mid-East. https://acoustiblok.com
